My hobbies are running, playing the piano, French and family. My husband and I have four adult children and we are a very close family.
I have taught in all areas of the school, mostly at intermediate, worked at the Education Review Office for one year, have been a senior teacher, deputy principal and this is my fourth Principalship. I am passionate about my job and am privileged to be part of this excellent school.
My love in education is mathematics and science. I also feel that every child has to enjoy school and that is a motivational factor in itself. Outside school I enjoy watching rugby union and also watching softball.
With six children of my own I am often busy going to see them at their sports – netball, rugby union, mountain bike racing, and road cycling.
I have been teaching at Freyberg Community School for 10 years now and I oversee Reception, Team 1 and Team 2. I have a special interest in ICT and visual arts and I love helping out both the students and teachers in these areas. My interests out of school include travelling, surfing, photography, paddleboarding and reading.
I’ve been teaching here at Freyberg for ten years. I love being part of the Freyberg community because everybody is so welcoming and friendly. I have a passion for literacy, languages and ICT. In my spare time, I love to go for walks on the beach or in the park with my labradors, Rosie and Nero. I also enjoy reading a good book in the sun, going scuba diving, spearfishing and hanging out with friends.

Kia Ora, I’m Tess and I have been teaching at Freyberg since 2012. I absolutely love teaching and take delight in being part of those ‘light bulb’ moments. As a new entrant teacher, I aim to create positive experiences for children so that they enjoy learning and coming to school. I love getting out in nature, watching and playing sports, drinking coffee with friends and playing the ukulele.

I am a Classroom Release Teacher here at Freyberg. I enjoy the diversity of my role and getting to see the amazing learning in all of the classrooms. When I’m not teaching I am busy on my lifestyle block in Helensville – I have Chinese Silkie chickens, cows, a horse, dogs and cats! I have traveled around the North Island representing Show Hunter Waitemata with many successful wins and placings.
