In light of the recent movement of the entire country to the Red setting of the COVID-19 Protection Framework, we are now able to confirm that when we do welcome our tamariki back on Thursday 3rd February, we will do so under the relevant Red setting guidelines and restrictions.
As mentioned in our previous communications, we will be in touch with additional information regarding what the return to Freyberg will look like for both our tamariki and whānau as soon as we receive these details from the Ministry of Education.
Please do continue to check in on Facebook, Seesaw, Mailchimp and our school app for updates as we remain excited to welcome all of our learners back to Freyberg in a little over one week’s time!

Freyberg Year 6 Leavers AssemblyMon Nov 29 02:39pm
Ahiahi mārie Freybergers,
We are excited to announce that we are able to hold an online Freyberg Year 6 Leavers Assembly this Thursday the 2nd of December, starting at 9.45am.
Due to ongoing Public Health requirements we are unable to have visitors on site to attend, so we have set up a live stream where whānau can watch from home. If you miss the live stream, it will be recorded so that you can go back later and watch it at a time which suits you. You can find the live stream here: Freyberg Leavers Assembly Live Stream
If you have a Year 6 child currently attending school, they will be able to attend the assembly in a safe manner with their bubbles.
If you have a Year 6 child who is NOT currently attending school, they will be able to come onsite for the day and we will create a new bubble for them. We would appreciate it if you could RSVP so that we know how many to expect – please do this by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org before the end of the day on Wednesday. You will be able to drop your Year 6 child off at the Roberts Road gate between 9.20am and 9.30am, and pick them up between 3.00pm and 3.10pm.
There will be a professional photographer attending the assembly to take photos of those receiving awards and candid shots throughout the event. She will be returning on Friday to take socially distanced ‘Class Photographs’ for those Year Six learners who are attending school as well as individual portraits. We will also provide the opportunity for those Year Six students who are not attending school to visit the site for individual portrait photos during the day. Photographs will be available to order online with additional details to come during the week.
In addition to the Year 6 Assembly, we will also be having a Year 6 Leavers’ Party, starting at 11am. Year 6 students will need to bring:
Morning Tea and a drink – lunch will be provided (please let you teacher know if you have any special dietary requirements)
Togs and a towel
Sunscreen and a hat
Important – Return to school surveyFri Nov 12 07:36pm
Kia ora Freyberg Whānau,
I hope this survey finds you and your family safe and well.
Following the recent announcement from the government, our team at Freyberg will be welcoming more learners back to onsite learning under COVID-19 Alert Level Three from next Wednesday 17th November.
Although we will have a range of public health measures in place to minimise risk, we will still need to manage the number of our learners attending each day to keep everyone safe.
As a result, we will welcome back our Team One and Team Three learners to onsite learning for Mondays and Tuesdays, close our school for additional cleaning on Wednesdays and welcome back our Team Two and Team Four learners for onsite learning for Thursdays and Fridays. At present, we will not be able to offer before or after school care for our learners as the Ministry of Education has advised that this is not possible while we remain at current alert level settings.
We will contact families with children in more than one of these groupings individually to discuss suitable arrangements for onsite learning.
Distance learning will continue to be provided to all of our tamariki on days that they are not carrying out onsite learning.
If your child has already been physically attending school on a full time basis due to your circumstances during COVID-19 Alert Level Three, they will continue to do so.
Additional measures that we will be taking to minimise risk for onsite learning include the Ministry of Education requirement for all staff members and all learners in Year Four and above being required to wear a face covering indoors, ensuring that those onsite remain in separate groups, ensuring our classrooms remain well ventilated and using staggered drop off and pick up times. We will provide additional and more specific information around these measures on Monday 15th November.
As always, we appreciate that each whānau situation is different and will continue to support you to make whatever decision you feel is appropriate regarding your child / children returning to onsite learning for the remaining four weeks of the school year.
Please take the time to discuss this with your whānau and fill in the attached survey before 5:00 p.m. on Sunday 14th November so that we are able to make the appropriate arrangements to support onsite learning for those who do wish to physically return to school.
Please note – if you have multiple children who attend Freyberg, you will need to fill in a separate form for each child as this will better allow us to analyse the number of learners returning to each classroom.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to be in touch with us at email@example.com or by contacting your child’s classroom teacher directly.
